The Dunlawton Sugar Mill Gardens is open from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm daily except Christmas and New Year's Day.
There is no admission charge but donations are greatly appreciated.
Master Gardeners are back! Stop by the Gardens the second Wednesday of each month between 9am and 11am to talk with them about your plant successes and problems.
Maps are available just to the left of the bulletin board in the green mailbox. Enjoy!
There is a plant sale area near the restrooms where you may find something interesting to take home for your own garden. You may leave your donation in the red box by the office near the plant sale area or in the donations box at the main gate. We also have locally sourced honey for sale. We also have a few signed limited prints of a scene in the gardens near the stone bridge.
If you are interested in purchasing one just contact a volunteer. Volunteers are available on Wednesday and Saturday mornings if you have a specific question about the plants, want to make a reservation or would like to purchase honey.
If you think you may have lost something at the gardens please send us an email and we can let you know if we have found it.
All events held at the Gardens must be approved in accordance with the policies of the Botanical Gardens of Volusia, Inc. If you are interested in reserving an event, please take the time to read the "Reservations" page on this website for the policies and procedures to reserve an event at the Gardens.
Please give us at least a two week lead time if you plan to reserve an event or bring a group to the Gardens to do volunteer work.

Our Memorial Walkway
Dunlawton Sugar Mill Gardens is a beautiful place to remember a loved one or a favorite thought or a pleasant occurrence. You can do that by purchasing a memorial brick for $75 to be placed in our memorial walkway which is located at the main entrance to the Gardens. Each 4" x 8" nutmeg colored brick can be laser engraved with up to three lines of text to express your thoughts. A brick can be purchased by sending an email requesting an application form (by return email) to info@dunlawtonsugarmillgardens.org. This is the only approved memorial for the Gardens.

Here are a few things to remember as your enjoy the gardens:
We are a botanical gardens. We may have heavy infestations of Poison Ivy so, STAY ON THE PATHS! Keep your children close. Many of the paths and other areas where you or your children may be walking may have broken shell, thorns, sharp twigs or parasites. You and your children must wear shoes or other adequate foot protection while touring the Gardens. We are also a repository for some of Volusia County's historical artifacts. Help us protect these items. Picnicking is not allowed so, please, do not bring food snacks or drinks into the Gardens.
Please, do not deface historical items! Once they are gone, there is no coming back.

Other Garden considerations:
Minors must be accompanied by an adult. Do not climb on or in the trees, the benches, or the dinosaurs. The dinosaurs are made of a thin and fragile coating of cement and they are showing their age by cracking and crumbling. Unfortunately we lost the T-Rex in 2019. Please help us keep them around for another 60 years by not climbing on them!
Prohibited items include:
Food and Drinks Alcohol
Skateboards Bicycles
Smoking, vaping or open flames
Animals *
*Animals are not allowed in the Gardens
Under Florida law and the federal Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), people with disabilities may bring their service animals to all "public accommodations," such as restaurants, museums, hotels, and stores.
Florida’s service animal law applies to animals that are trained to do work or perform tasks for someone with a physical, mental, psychiatric, sensory, or intellectual disability. The work the animal does must be directly related to the person’s disability. The ADA defines a service animal as a dog that is individually trained to perform tasks or do work for the benefit of a person with a disability. (In some cases, a miniature horse may also qualify as a service animal under the ADA.) Neither law covers pets or what some call “emotional support animals”: animals that provide a sense of safety, companionship, and comfort to those with psychiatric or emotional disabilities or conditions. Under the ADA and Florida law, owners of public accommodations are not required to allow emotional support animals, only service animals.
Thank you for visiting and for your support.
